Nintendo’s old promotional Flash games are being brought back to life

A modder, programmer, and all-around Nintendo enthusiast who goes by the name Skelux has been working on restoring all of Nintendo’s old promotional Flash games, as spotted by Motherboard.
A functional way of putting animations and videos into webpages, Adobe’s Flash plugin provided a way to deliver rich web content that was widely adopted in the early 2000s era of the internet. Flash gave us some of the web’s finest moments, like Badger Badger Badgerand Homestar Runner. It was also used by companies like Disney and Nintendo to create interactive content for promoting upcoming releases, usually in the form of small interactive website modules and mini-games.
As these creations only lived online, many of them eventually disappeared without a trace. Over time, Flash became less popular and dedicated Flash-based game websites were often deleted once they had aged past the release they were designed to promote. However, Skelux has made it a mission to restore and make available all of Nintendo’s Flash games, spanning from 1999 to 2010, on his website, Origami64.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Over the past month or so, Skelux has been able to reconstruct over 30 of these titles from Nintendo’s past, including Flash-based software made to promote Diddy Kong Racing DSMetroid Prime, and Wario World. He’s been putting the games back together using bits and pieces found using the Wayback Machine, but several titles, like Mario PartySuper Paper Mario, and Animal Crossing, remain incomplete. In October, he announced a bounty of $50 to anyone who could deliver missing files and says so far, only one person has been able to dig up new data.
As it stands, about a dozen games still need help to be completed, but in the meantime, you can play any of the other completed games on Origami64, and relive some of Flash’s glory days.

Google’s Pixel 2 will come in new ‘kinda blue’ color

On the heels of a number of other Google leaks that Droid Life published this afternoon, we now have a clear look at the forthcoming Pixel 2 . The follow-up to last year’s Google Pixel (the smaller of the two Google phones), which is being announced on October 4th, will come in three colors: kinda blue, just black, and clearly white. Droid Life says to expect roughly the same kind of pricing structure as last year’s Pixel. That means a 64GB option for $649, and a 128GB option for $749 — $200 less than the reported Pixel 2 XL pricing. Like last year’s Pixels, the Pixel 2 will be made by HTC (which Google is reportedly considering buying ). The Pixel 2 XL, however, is reportedly being manufactured by LG. Exactly how big a difference that will spell between these two phones is hard to say from the leaks alone, but it does now seem apparent they’ll be similar in design with small cosmetic disparities. ...
